Statement of Faith

MISSION STATEMENT

Wellspring is dedicated to bringing Biblical truth to our children through classical education. Wellspring desires all methods and manners to be simple, clear, and purposefully pointed toward glorifying God.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

  1. The Bible: We believe that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Tim 3:16) We believe the Bible in its entirety is the Word of God and is without error, written under the inspiration of God’s Spirit, and is the final authority in all we believe and do.

  2. The Trinity: We believe that God exists in three equally divine and sinless persons (Father, Son, and Spirit) who execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and salvation (Gen 1:26; Mt 3:16-17, 28:19; Jn 1:1, 10:30; 1 Pet 1:2). We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died in our place, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, and will one day return to earth again at his second coming. We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts mankind concerning sin, sanctifies us, and empowers us.

  3. Humanity: We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image (Gen 1:26). Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death (Ps 139:13-14; Gen 9:6, Ex 20:13). We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Jam 1:27, Ps 68:5-6; 1 Tim 2:4). We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary genders reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of ones’ biological sex determined at conception is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, ordained by God (Gen 2:24, Mk 10:6-9, Eph 5:22-33, Rom 1:18-32).

  4. The Believer: We believe that man was created by God in His own image (Gen 1:26); that he sinned and thereby incurred physical, spiritual, and eternal death, which is separation from God (Rom 3:23). All human beings are born with a sinful nature (Ps 51:5) and only those who repent and turn from sin to follow Jesus Christ as Savior are delivered from condemnation and receive new and eternal life (Jn 3:16-17; 14:6, Rom 10:9-10).

  5. Parents: We believe that the ultimate responsibility for the education of children belongs to the parents. Thus, we believe this is an inalienable right given by God, which the state cannot create, destroy, or alter. Parents may allow another to teach cognitive information, but all education must be under the ultimate authority and supervision of the parents (Prov 22:6).

  6. Church: We believe that all Christian parents and children are to be shaped and formed in the community of a local Christ-following church. We believe that membership in such a local church is foundational to Christian development and the maturity of believers. In the same way that parents form their children, the church forms its people with Christ as its head (Heb 10:25; Eph 4:11-16, Col 1:18). Wellspring does not endorse any particular denomination, but rather endorses the priesthood of all believers (1 Pet 2:9) and the beauty of Protestant, Evangelical, Christ-following bodies of faith.

  7. Final Authority for Matters of Faith and Conduct: This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
